Mr. Scott Dunbar is grateful for the exciting new opportunity and privilege of serving MBRSD students and families as the K/1 general music teacher at Mallett School, Cushing School, and grade 6 chorus and general music teacher at Mt. Blue Middle School. A native of rural Northeast Ohio, Mr. Dunbar chose to pursue a career in music as a junior in high school when he was invited to play saxophone in the Hiram College Jazz Ensemble. After graduating from the Kent State University School of Music with a Bachelors of Arts in applied saxophone, he performed and recorded with numerous artists in the greater Cleveland area while also teaching lessons on saxophone, clarinet, flute, guitar, and bass. Inspiring words from one of his private students led Mr. Dunbar to return to Kent State where he completed coursework in order to earn full state teacher certification. He taught general and instrumental music in the Cleveland, Akron, and Canton areas before relocating to Maine with his wife and three children.
He teaches music at Mallett on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
